Toastmasters.... is not what most people think.  Filmmaker Keva Rosenfeld summed it up so eloquently in his Day to Day piece on National Public Radio last November, "Fun? I expected a room full of blowhards and social misfits.  But instead it was an affable group of about 20.  All ages.  Highly self-motivated.  Very punctual.  Not like anyone I know."

To listen to Keva's experiences with Toastmasters,

Wikipedia has an informative entry on Toastmasters.

On June 1st 2008, a staff writer for the LA Times wrote an article about her experiences with Toastmasters.

Our Meetings:
We meet every Wednesday at 6:30 a.m. at Baxter in Westlake Village.  We start right at 6:30 a.m. and end promptly at 8:00 a.m.  We are all ages, many cultures, professions and interests. We have lots of fun, are amazingly affable, and face the fear of public speaking head on!

Our Mission:
The mission of Daybreakers of Westlake, Toastmasters Club #3332, is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop and practice communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth.

Dues:

To join a Toastmaster Club you will pay a one time administration fee of $20.00 to Toastmasters, International along with your accrued local club dues depending on the month you join. Dues are collected twice a year in October and April. They are $60.55 each time. Be amazed at how inexensive this is (20 years of Toastmasters compared to 1-2 day Dale Carnegie course).

Receive (and learn to give) insightful and skillful feedback.
Daybreakers is the home to many experienced members who contribute as role models and mentors. We take pride in giving insightful, supportive
evaluations that recognize and nurture strengths. We also offer guidance and support for continued growth as speakers and leaders.

Watch yourself on video.
We offer every speaker the opportunity to have a video (DVD) of their speeches. This feedback combined with skillful evaluations and the opportunity to watch other speakers supports rapid growth.

Learn effective use of computer projection when needed.
Because of the importance of computer visual aids in today’s business world, we also have a digital projector for use with computer presentations.
